Nqaba Peter in for Tony de Zorzi as SA bat; Kundai Matigimu debuts for Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe have not even had 24 hours to catch their collective breath after beating Namibia in a last-ball thriller yesterday because they are back at it in Windhoek. They play South Africa, to whom they’ve already lost heavily, with the series well-poised as all three teams are on two points each.
Pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabzani has been given the game off after an expensive outing against Namibia (1 for 39 in four overs) and replaced by debutant quick Kundai Matigimu. The 28-year old has only played 11 T20s and taken as many wickets but was the third-highest wicket-taker in last season’s Pro50 and has an opportunity to show what he can do against top opposition.
After two middle-order collapses, Zimbabwe have also made a change in the batting line-up, with Dion Myers missing out and Innocent Kaia coming in to the No. 3 spot. All eyes will be on Sikandar Raza to step up after he recorded ducks in three of his last four T20Is, and single figure scores in two matches before that.
South Africa have also axed an under-performing batter. Tony de Zorzi’s scores of 9 and 15 have resulted in him making way for an extra bowler. Legspinner Nqaba Peter joins left-arm spinner Bjorn Fortuin and offspinner Prenelan Subrayen in South Africa’s attack. Andile Simelane, who joined the squad in place of the injured Lutho Sipamla, is on the bench.
