The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 7 in Ibadan, Oyo State, as preparations intensify for the start of the 2026/27 season.

The meeting will bring together club chairmen, owners, officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), NPFL board members and other stakeholders to review the previous season and finalise plans for the new campaign.

Following the AGM, the league body will conduct the official fixture draws for the 2026/27 season.

Discussions at the meeting are expected to focus on league administration, club licensing, officiating, player welfare, broadcasting, commercial development and other measures aimed at improving the domestic league.

In a major boost for Nigerian football, the National Sports Commission (NSC) recently announced a record ₦1 billion prize for the winners of the 2026/27 NPFL title.

The commission also approved a minimum monthly salary of ₦2 million for NPFL players to improve welfare and strengthen professionalism across the league.

The new season is expected to build on recent reforms aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and commercial appeal of Nigeria’s top-flight league.
