NPFL Clubs Converge On Ibadan For AGM, 2026/27 Fixtures Draw

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ibadan, Oyo State, today, 7th August, with the eagerly anticipated fixtures draw for the 2026/27 season expected to headline proceedings.

The AGM, the league’s highest decision-making forum, will bring together the NPFL Board and representatives of the 20 participating clubs to review the just-concluded season and approve key policies ahead of the new campaign.

One of the major highlights of the meeting will be the unveiling of the fixtures for the 2026/27 season, following the league’s earlier announcement of the kick-off date.

Under the leadership of NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, the domestic top flight has maintained a stable football calendar over the past four seasons, with each campaign commencing in August and concluding in May.

Reflecting on the league’s progress, Elegbeleye described the establishment of a consistent calendar as one of the board’s biggest achievements.

“Our modest achievement includes putting the NPFL on a stable calendar since the 2023/24 season. It is a major shift from the era when no one knew when the season would end,” he said.

The NPFL chairman also highlighted improvements in the league’s television coverage, noting that significant progress had been made towards fulfilling his pledge to increase the competition’s visibility.
“We have succeeded to a large extent in securing live broadcast coverage of the league, although there is still much more work to do,” he added.

During the AGM, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi will present the technical and operational report, while GTI Assets Management will deliver the league’s financial report.

The meeting will be held at the Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Events Hall, opposite the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where club officials are expected to conclude preparations for the start of another NPFL season.
