Netflix Announces the Release Date for the Second Season of Medusa
Netflix confirmed that the second season of Medusa will arrive on its platform on Sept. 30, 2026, marking the return of one of the Colombian productions that managed to capture the attention of audiences on the streaming service. The new installment will continue the story of Barbara Hidalgo, played by Juana Acosta, as she once again faces family conflicts, conspiracies, and power struggles over control of her powerful business empire.
The continuation will consist of 10 episodes, two more than the first season, and will once again combine elements of thriller, drama, and romance. The story will place its protagonists in the face of a threat emerging from within the Hidalgo family itself, while a series of events puts both Barbara’s power and the stability of her company at risk.
Netflix’s announcement was accompanied by promotional material hinting at new confrontations and a plot shaped by family secrets. The production will once again be handled by Anima Films, with Matias Gueilburt directing and Sebastian Gamba and Julián Rousso serving as executive producers.

The new season will pick up after the events that marked the conclusion of the first installment. Barbara Hidalgo will have to confront a threat that appears to be connected to a hidden member of her own family, once again placing internal disputes at the center of the story.

Medusa debuted on Netflix on March 15, 2025, with a first season consisting of eight episodes. The production introduced the story of Barbara Hidalgo, a powerful businesswoman who was at the head of an important family conglomerate while facing threats and conflicts within her own inner circle.
One of the key characters in the story was Danger Carmelo, a detective who became instrumental in investigating the attacks and events threatening Barbara. As the investigation progressed, it became clear that the danger was much closer to the protagonists than they had initially imagined.
The finale introduced one of the series’ major twists by revealing that Gabriel, a trusted employee, was behind several murders and attacks. His discovery changed the course of the investigation and brought the story to an ending that left several questions unanswered.
Before dying in prison, Gabriel delivered a line that ultimately served as a clue for the continuation of the story: “If they kill me here, it will be the Hidalgo demon.” The message left open the possibility that an even greater threat was connected to the family, precisely the scenario that the second season will now explore.
