NEMC Celebrates 14 Years Anniversary | News

Fourteen years of valuable services to the population of Liberia and beyond the country’s border in providing specialized healthcare deliveries, with the dedicated commitment of the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) management and staff, seems like over 30 years of establishment.

The Center, which started in a two rooms with just four volunteer workers in the  S. D. Cooper Community, can today boost of its head office facility in the 72^nd, Bassa Town Community in Paynesville, Montserrado County with the state –of – Art equipment, and at least 30 professional healthcare givers in meeting the healthcare needs of the people.

Besides, MEMC with support from international partners and the Liberian Government successfully implemented two eye healthcare units at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial and Regional Referral Hospital in Tappita District, Nimba County, and at the Liberia Government Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Being part of the Center’s 14^th Anniversary on Tuesday, August 4, was Liberia’s immediate past Vice President, Jewel Howard – Taylor.

In her special remarks, Madam Taylor noted that the level of commitment and diligent by the management and staff, has inspired the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) to make tremendous achievements over the years of it establishment.

 “The vision of the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) by the Executive Director, Robert F. Dolo, coupled with staff collaboration and providing the people has made the Center a shining symbol of Liberia”, the Former Vice President.

She said it has also positioned the Center to have its own modern equipped facilities not only in Monrovia, but in other parts of the country, enabling the people to have specialized healthcare services that are accessible and affordable to the citizens.

Madam Taylor: “I am thrilled with the many testimonies seems in the documents that had made NSEMC as the premium eye healthcare services before adding other services”.

She however, cautioned Liberians to emulate the good example of the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) by putting aside their differences and working together Liberia will achieve rapid growth and development across the country.

Speaking earlier, the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) Executive Director, Robert F. Dolo, restated the Center’s continues commitment to provide universal access to specialize healthcare services to the people.

Mr. Dolo: “This is why NEMC has shifted it eye healthcare delivery to include other services such as ear, nose and throat, among others. He boosted that the entity is a foremost health institution that has covered the fifteen counties of Liberia through its community outreach services”.

He disclosed that over the 14 years the Center has conducted numerous of community outreach ranging from free glasses distributions, and surgical eye operations to thousands and hundreds of people throughout Liberia.    

Also speaking, the New Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) Board Chairman, Boakai Ngamai, called on government to subsidize the institution, as it is buttressing the national comprehensive healthcare policy of the Liberian Government.

The New Sight Eye Sight and Medical Center (NEMC) is a Liberian non-profit organization founded in 2009, originally known as New Sight Eye Center. It focuses on providing specialized healthcare services, particularly in eye health, and aims to improve access to quality medical services across Liberia.

The Center offers a range of services, including eye examinations, sight restoration surgeries, and medical care for various health issues. NEMC has established secondary eye centers in Grand Bassa and Nimba Counties, working to strengthen the health system in rural communities and ensure equitable access to healthcare services.
