Nasreddine Nabi has missed out on reuniting with Kaizer Chiefs winger Makabi Lilepo at Raja Casablanca after the Moroccan giants failed to match the offer tabled by Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi.

The Tunisian coach, who previously worked with Lilepo at Naturena, had identified the Congolese star as one of his key transfer targets for the summer window, drawn by his personal knowledge of the player’s qualities and abilities.

However, Raja’s bid fell short, with their offer to Amakhosi lower than that offered by the Libyan side, who secured the deal for an estimated $700,000 (approximately R11 million), according to Info Sport.

Nabi’s Frustration

Kaizer Chiefs rejected Raja’s offer on the basis that it did not match the player’s valuation, preferring to complete an agreement with Al-Ahly Benghazi.

The publication reported that it was a missed opportunity for the Green Eagles, in particular for coach Nabi, who had specifically requested Lilepo as part of his rebuild at the Eagles, relying on their existing relationship from their time together in South Africa.

Raja Fans Left Waiting

Raja Casablanca supporters are now awaiting further moves from the board and sporting administration to finalise quality signings capable of returning the Green Brigade to the domestic and continental podiums.

With the transfer window still open, Nabi will be hoping the club can back him with the right calibre of player to mount a serious challenge this season.
