Two days after the death of the Omukama of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Rukidi IV, at the age of 34, grief continues to grip the Kingdom as subjects mourn their fallen monarch and await his final return home. While Tooro culture prescribes nine days of mourning for the Omukama, questions have emerged over when the countdown officially begins. The Musuuga of Tooro, who is also the clan head of the Babiito clan from which the Omukama comes, Charles Keith Kamulasi, says the period only starts once the King’s body is returned to the Kingdom and formally laid in state at Karuziika Palace.
