MTN South Sudan Launches Aweil ICT Hub to Boost Digital Skills and Youth Innovation

The ICT Hub was unveiled during a ceremony attended by government officials, education sector representatives, community leaders, youth groups, development partners, and members of the media.

MTN South Sudan  has officially launched the Aweil ICT Hub, marking another significant milestone in the company’s commitment to expanding digital access, promoting innovation, and empowering young people across South Sudan.

The ICT Hub was unveiled during a ceremony attended by government officials, education sector representatives, community leaders, youth groups, development partners, and members of the media.

Designed as a Centre for learning, collaboration, and innovation, the facility will provide access to digital skills training, scholarships, and educational opportunities that support youth development and entrepreneurship.

Speaking during the launch, MTN South Sudan CEO, Madam Mapula Bodibe, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to empowering communities through technology and education.

“Today, we are not simply opening a facility. We are opening doors to new opportunities, new skills, and new possibilities for the people of Aweil and the wider Northern Bahr el Ghazal region. At MTN, we believe that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. We also recognize that meaningful access to the digital world requires more than connectivity. It requires knowledge, skills, confidence, and opportunities to learn and grow.”

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Gabriel Deng Yei, the Information & Communication Minister for Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, commended MTN South Sudan for investing in the future of the state’s youth through digital education and innovation.

Access to digital skills and technology is essential for education, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. We appreciate MTN South Sudan for partnering with us to create opportunities that will empower our youth and help prepare them for the demands of the modern world. We encourage students, entrepreneurs, and the wider community to make full use of this facility to learn, innovate, and contribute to the development of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State and South Sudan as a whole.”

The Aweil ICT Hub aims to bridge the digital skills gap by providing a platform where students, entrepreneurs, and community members can access resources that enhance learning, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities.
