Most Expensive Deadline Day Deals In History

The dramatic final hours of the 2026 summer transfer window saw absolute chaos across Europe, with four blockbuster late deals crashing directly into the all-time top 10 most expensive Deadline Day transfers in history.

According to data collected by Winsportsonline, headline-maker Enzo Fernández features twice on the list, shattering records with an eye-watering £125 million (around R2.71 billion) move from Chelsea to Manchester City.

That deal ties Alexander Isak’s 2025 move to Liverpool as the most expensive summer Deadline Day transfer ever. Coupled with his £104 million (R2.26 billion) move to Chelsea in 2023, Fernández becomes the first player in modern history to hold the winter transfer record while co-holding the summer crown.

Manchester City proved to be the ultimate late-window movers, also snaring Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for £60 million (R1.30 billion) into the top 10. Pep Guardiola’s side now claim multiple entries among the biggest closing-day purchases—more than any other club on the planet.
