Morocco’s sweet pepper exports to Britain rise 60%

Morocco exported 10,400 metric tons of sweet peppers to the United Kingdom between October 2025 and June 2026, earning more than £17 million, agricultural market platform EastFruit reported September 14.

Shipments rose 60% from the previous season and nearly tripled compared with 2023/2024, marking a third consecutive year of growth in the British market.

Moroccan peppers reach Britain almost year-round, although the main export season runs from October through May. Shipments peaked at 1,800 tons in February, accounting for more than 9% of British sweet pepper imports that month.

Spain and the Netherlands together supply more than 80% of the market. Morocco has narrowed the gap with Germany, the third-largest supplier, to fewer than 1,000 tons.

With German shipments broadly stable and Moroccan exports growing, Morocco could move into third place in the 2026/2027 season, EastFruit said.
