Morocco’s Sofiane Boufal joins Libya’s Al-Ittihad

Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal has joined Libyan Premier League club Al-Ittihad on a free transfer.

The Tripoli-based club announced, Monday, the arrival of the 32-year-old attacking midfielder in a video posted on its official Facebook page, describing him as a «magician». Al-Ittihad said the Moroccan star was arriving in Tripoli to begin «a new chapter» as the club strengthens its squad ahead of the new season and targets domestic honors.

Boufal has previously played in France, England, Spain, Belgium and Qatar, representing clubs including Lille, Southampton, Celta Vigo, Al-Rayyan, Union Saint-Gilloise and Le Havre.

He was part of the Moroccan national team that became the first African and Arab side to reach a World Cup semi-final at Qatar 2022. However, he was not selected for Morocco’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
