Morocco’s Elazzaoui Wins Wild 55 Adelboden Race in Record Time

Rabat – Moroccan trail runner Elhousine Elazzaoui claimed victory at the Wild 55 Adelboden’s race in Switzerland on Saturday, producing a record-breaking performance in one of the latest events on the Wildstrubel by UTMB circuit.

Elazzaoui completed the 55- kilometer mountain race in 4hours, 49minutes, and 5 seconds, narrowly finishing ahead of France’s Tibe de Bizet, who crossed the line just 22 seconds later. Fellow Frenchman Gaspard Ravaux tok third in 4:55:20.

The victory saw Elazzaoui establish the inaugural course record for the wild 55, which features around 3300 meters of elevation gain across the Swiss Alps.

The route links Adelboden in the canton of Bern with Crans-Montana in Valais, taking runners through Lenk and the demanding terrain surrounding the Wildstrubel massif. 

Elazzaoui’s winning time also surpassed last year’s benchmark by 4 minutes and 45 seconds. Swiss runner Maxime Pellouchoud had set the previous best in 2025, when the race covered 53 kilometers.

The Moroccan’s achievement came on a longer course this year, with the distance increased by two kilometers while the elevation gain remained unchanged.

The result further underlines Elazzaoui’s standing among the world’s leading short-distance trail runners. The Zagora-born athlete entered the race with a UTMB Index of 968 and has twice won the Golden Trail World Series.

His latest triumph adds another major international result to a growing career and strengthens his reputation as one of Morocco’s leading figures in global trail running.
