Morocco Wins Presidency of Arab League’s Permanent Information Committee

Agadir – Morocco was elected today to the presidency of the Permanent Information Committee of the League of Arab States, reaffirming the country’s active role in Arab media cooperation and joint action.

The election took place in Cairo on the sidelines of the 166th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.

Morocco will head the committee through Moustapha Amdjar, Director of Relations with Media Actors at the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication’s Department of Communication.

The election reflects the confidence placed in Morocco within the institutions of joint Arab action and recognizes the country’s contributions to strengthening media cooperation and coordination among Arab countries.

The 166th session of the Arab League Council began Monday at the organization’s headquarters in Cairo, with the participation of a Moroccan delegation headed by Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Ait Ouali.

The session’s agenda covers political, economic, social, cultural, and legal issues, with the genocide in Gaza and what the Arab League describes as illegitimate Iranian attacks against Arab countries among the key items under discussion.

The meeting also includes the election or appointment of heads of several permanent committees, including the Human Rights Committee, Meteorology Committee, Permanent Information Committee, and Committee on International Humanitarian Law, as well as the appointment of judges to the Administrative Court of the Arab League.

Morocco also secured a position within the League’s judicial institutions, with Fatima Tazi, an advisor to the Court of Cassation, elected as a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the League of Arab States.
