Morocco U20 to Face Algeria in AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

Casablanca – Morocco’s U20 national team will face Algeria in the North African qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with the regional competition also serving as the pathway to the FIFA U20 World Cup.

The draw, held in Cairo on Wednesday, placed Morocco in a group featuring Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Libya.

Morocco will begin their qualifying campaign against Tunisia on September 27 at the Suez Canal Stadium before facing Algeria three days later at the same venue.

The Atlas Cubs will then meet hosts Egypt on October 3 before concluding their campaign against Libya on October 6 at Ismailia Stadium.

The regional qualifiers will determine which North African teams advance to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. 

The continental tournament will also carry added significance, with qualification providing the route toward the 2027 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Morocco will therefore face a demanding schedule, with four matches in the space of 10 days and little room for dropped points.
