Morocco Signs MoU with Vertiv to Advance Cloud, AI, Digital Infrastructure

Agadir – Morocco has signed a new partnership with global digital infrastructure company Vertiv to support the development of the country’s cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and critical digital infrastructure as part of its broader digital transformation agenda.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday in Rabat by Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Vertiv Africa Managing Director Wojtek Piorko, according to a statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation on digital infrastructure, cloud computing, AI, high-performance computing, data centers, and the electrical and cooling systems required to operate them.

The ministry said the partnership aligns with the implementation of the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the AI Made in Morocco roadmap, and the national cloud development roadmap for 2025-2030, which are being deployed under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.

The memorandum provides for the exchange of expertise, the preparation of technical studies, the identification of strategic projects, and the exploration of innovative solutions tailored to Morocco’s future digital needs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, El Fallah Seghrouchni stressed the strategic importance of digital infrastructure for the country’s technological ambitions.

“Digital infrastructure is an essential pillar of the Kingdom’s technological sovereignty and a decisive lever for the development of artificial intelligence, innovation, the digital economy and the modernization of public services,” the minister said.

The ministry added that the collaboration will support technical discussions on developing advanced data center infrastructure, cloud platforms, and the technologies needed for high-performance computing and AI applications. It will also help identify national priorities and strengthen coordination with relevant public institutions.

According to the statement, the cooperation will contribute to ongoing work on Morocco’s planned 50-megawatt sovereign data center in Rabat. The facility is intended to strengthen the country’s sovereign cloud capabilities while supporting the hosting of digital public services, AI platforms, high-performance computing, and cybersecurity infrastructure.

The project is expected to reinforce Morocco’s digital sovereignty, accelerate the modernization of public administration, and support the country’s ambition to position itself as a regional digital hub.
