Morocco beat South Africa to reach WAFCON semifinals and World Cup

Morocco’s women’s national football team has qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco 2026) and the 2027 World Cup after defeating South Africa 2-1 in a quarter-final match played on Saturday evening at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Morocco’s goals came through Soukaina Ouzraoui in the 31st minute, following an assist from Hanane Ait El Haj.

Ait El Haj struck again in the 52nd minute to extend the lead, while Thembi Kgatlana pulled one back in the 67th minute.

The Atlas Lionesses will face the winner of Sunday’s match between Cameroon and Nigeria in the semi-finals at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
