Morocco bans football academies named after foreign clubs

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has banned private football academies and schools in Morocco from operating under the names of foreign clubs, including those with partnerships or other ties to such clubs.

Announced in a statement published on Sunday, the decision follows a review of the organizational and strategic frameworks governing football development in Morocco. It comes as the federation prepares a national regulatory framework for the organization and management of private football academies and schools.

According to the FRMF, the measure is intended to strengthen domestic training and supervision while ensuring that private academies operate independently and in line with Morocco’s strategic priorities for football development.

The federation said the broader objective is to train future generations of footballers within a coherent national framework.
