Morocco Arrests Three Brothers After Video of Child Drinking Alcohol

Tantan – Authorities in Morocco have arrested three brothers after a disturbing video showed a young child being pushed to drink alcohol, converging reports quoted a security source as saying.

The case began on Friday, when police detained the main suspect after the video circulated widely on social media. The footage showed a group of adults appearing to encourage a six-year-old boy to drink from what looked like an alcohol bottle. The video quickly went viral, sparking anger and shock among users online.

The adults in the video appear to be intoxicated and are seen laughing while pressuring the child to consume alcohol. Many viewers described the scene as deeply disturbing and called for immediate legal action to protect the child and hold those responsible accountable.

Following the first arrest, police continued their investigation. On Saturday morning, the National Brigade of Judicial Police, acting on precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested two additional suspects, added the reports. They are the brothers of the first detainee and the uncles of the young boy. 

The arrests took place in a rural area known as “Douar El Khssassma Malin El Oued,” near the city of Benslimane, in coordination with local gendarmerie units.

The suspects are now under investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. Authorities said the goal of the inquiry is to fully understand the circumstances of the incident and determine the level of each person’s involvement.

The case has triggered strong reactions across Moroccan social media, with many users demanding justice and stronger protection for children. Child rights advocates and civil society organizations also reacted strongly, stating that the incident represents a serious violation of a child’s dignity and safety.

The president of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, also reacted publicly, along with other rights groups, calling for a thorough investigation and accountability for anyone involved. They emphasized the importance of protecting children from all forms of abuse, especially when such acts are shared publicly online.
