The South African coach has been hard at work preparing his side for the upcoming Egyptian Premier League season, with Pyramids chasing a maiden league title.
The win comes after a 2-0 win over the Turkish side in their second pre-season clash, after the Sky Blues suffered a defeat to Iranian side Persepolis in their opening game.
Mokwena’s First Win in Turkey
According to Gate Ahram, Pyramids started the scoring through Abdel Rahman Magdy after a brilliant pass from Mahmoud Zalaka, before Al-Arabi equalised with a long-range strike late in the first half.
The Sky Blues regained control in the second half, with Ahmed Atef Qatta restoring the lead after following up on a ball from Youssef Obama, before Mostafa Ziko added a third from a Karim Hafez pass.
Mokwena is now getting to grips with his new squad ahead of their final pre-season outing, but he has still urged the club to find two new attacking options following Fiston Mayele’s departure.
Pyramids’ Season Opener
Mokwena will be hoping to have his new attacking additions in place before the Egyptian Premier League season kicks off on 21 August, with Pyramids visiting Ghazl El Mahalla in their opening fixture, El Watan News revealed.
