Ministry of Labor launches “Libya Experts Forum” with Libyan professionals from home and abroad

The “Libya Experts Forum” kicked off in the capital, Tripoli, on Sunday, attended by Presidential Council Deputy Head Abdullah Al-Lafi, Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity Ali Al-Abed, and Audit Bureau President Khaled Shakshak, alongside Libyan officials, experts, academics and researchers from inside and outside the country.

According to a statement by the forum, the event is being held as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with Libyan professionals and experts, particularly those living abroad, and draw on their scientific and professional expertise to support Libyan institutions and develop various sectors. The initiative comes as the country faces challenges related to development, public administration, the economy, scientific research and digital transformation.

Around 100 Libyan experts, academics and professionals residing in 26 countries are participating in the forum, in addition to experts and academics based in Libya, providing a platform for networking, exchanging expertise and discussing issues related to the country’s future.

The forum’s sessions cover a range of fields and specialisations, including economics and finance, scientific research, medicine, engineering, technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, energy, telecommunications and data analysis, as well as issues related to development, digital transformation and institutional development.

The forum also aims to strengthen a database of Libyan experts and professionals, facilitating access to specialists in various fields when technical and scientific expertise is required and helping bridge the gap between national institutions and Libyan professionals based in different countries.

Efforts to reconnect with Libyan professionals and benefit from expertise abroad have gained particular importance amid the growing number of Libyan specialists working at universities, research centres, institutions and international companies, whose knowledge and experience could serve as a valuable resource for the country’s development.

The forum will run for three days and include specialised sessions and discussions between experts and representatives of Libyan institutions, focusing on ways to harness national knowledge and expertise to address existing challenges and support development efforts.
