Menfi discusses Libya-Ghana ties with Ghanaian President’s envoy

The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, met with the Special Envoy of the President of Ghana, Felicia Adjei, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Ghana’s Parliament, and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral coordination and cooperation across a range of sectors.

According to the Presidential Council’s media office, the meeting, held on Thursday, included an exchange of views on several issues of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in various fields, reflecting the two countries’ shared political commitment to deepening African partnerships, reinforcing continental cooperation frameworks, and enhancing their role through membership in the Bureau of the African Union.

The discussions also covered closer coordination in addressing irregular migration, expanding investment opportunities, and strengthening partnerships in the oil and health sectors.

During the meeting, the Ghanaian envoy expressed her country’s pride in the longstanding historical and fraternal ties between Libya and Ghana, reaffirming Accra’s commitment to broadening bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the shared interests of both nations and their peoples.

She also reiterated Ghana’s support for a Libyan-led political process carried out through constitutional institutions and with the participation of Libyans. In addition, she expressed support for restoring Libya’s leading role within the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) by resuming the work of the organization’s General Secretariat from its permanent headquarters in Tripoli.

Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining political consultations and coordination, strengthening communication between relevant institutions, resuming the work of the Libya-Ghana Joint Higher Committee, and activating the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries.
