Thapelo Maseko will have to wait for his FC Copenhagen debut after being left out of the 23-man squad for their UEFA Conference League playoff against FC Inter Turku in Finland.

Head coach Bo Svensson named his travelling party for the first leg on Thursday, but the South African winger was among eight players who did not make the trip.

Maseko was named alongside Diant Ramaj, Dominik Kotarski, Andreas Cornelius, Magnus Mattsson, Rodrigo Huescas, Dominik Sarapata and Hunor Németh as players who were not included in the matchday squad.

Maseko Misses Out on Conference League Squad

Svensson himself has also not travelled to Finland due to illness but is expected to arrive on Thursday, assuming he is well enough to do so.

Maseko only recently completed his move to the Danish giants from Mamelodi Sundowns, with the winger forcing through a transfer after a protracted saga that saw him excluded from first-team activities at Chloorkop.

Maseko’s Next Chance to Impress

With the Conference League playoff out of the picture, Maseko’s next opportunity to make his debut will come in FC Copenhagen’s Danish Superliga clash against Sønderjyske on 31 August at the Parken Stadium.

The former Sundowns star will be hoping to force his way into Svensson’s plans as the Danish champions look to defend their league title and compete in Europe this season.
