Maersk has introduced a set of tariff adjustments for Brazil, Cyprus, and North Macedonia, which include modified local fees and inland fuel-related surcharges. The effective dates span from 7 September to 1 October 2026, varying by market.

For Cyprus, starting 7 September 2026, a 12.5% fuel surcharge will be added to trucking services. This step is tied to the Middle East situation and increased fuel expenses. The surcharge is subject to a weekly review instead of a monthly one, with new rates announced each Friday for the upcoming week. No automatic trigger mechanism will operate during this timeframe. The fee will be listed as EFS for export shipments and IFS for import shipments.

In North Macedonia, a 20% fuel surcharge on truck services will take effect from 7 September. This temporary charge is similarly driven by elevated fuel costs linked to the Middle East scenario. It will be reassessed on a weekly basis and will stay active for as long as Maersk deems it necessary to offset the extra expenses.

Additionally, Maersk will update several optional local charges in Brazil effective 1 October 2026. The company points to inflation and ancillary costs as reasons for these changes. Specific revised fees include BRL 540 per document for Bill of Lading amendments on both imports and exports, and BRL 1,075 per document for combined Bill of Lading and manifest amendments. Issuing a Bill of Lading will also cost BRL 540, while certificate fees are set at BRL 420 per document. Late documentation penalties will be BRL 505 per document, the Late Gate Service will carry a fee of BRL 300 per container, and the Extra Seal Charge will be BRL 40 per container.

Maersk emphasizes that these Brazil charges are not obligatory. They are only levied when clients opt for extra services or when particular operational conditions necessitate them.
