Sometimes fate has its own timetable. The first meeting may not spark a romance, but life’s unexpected twists have a way of bringing the right people together. For Lauren Golding and Josh Walters, that journey led them to each other.
When Lauren and Josh first locked eyes at a Key Club district convention in 2017, neither could have guessed they were looking at their soulmate. They were later connected on Snapchat via Josh’s friend Brandon Parchment — who just happened to be Lauren’s cousin. After endless messages back and forth, they finally met in person at another Key Club event in 2018. Winning Lauren over with his wit was an early victory for Josh, breaking through her initial shyness.
“She was actually quite chatty once you got her talking. One thing I remembered clearly was that she laughed at my jokes, which, of course, I took as a very good sign,” Josh shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).
For Lauren, meeting Josh in person changed everything.
“I thought he was confident, handsome, and seemed to always be the centre of attention. There was something magnetic about him and the way he carried himself. He just had a presence that was difficult to ignore,” Lauren said.
A year later, the two went on their first date. Years would pass before they realised a charming piece of cosmic timing: Their first official date on June 9 matched the exact calendar date of their very first Snapchat exchange in 2017.
“Once we started talking, the chemistry was natural, and we quickly realised there was something mutual between us,” Josh said.
After years of dating, Josh proposed to Lauren on August 31, 2025.
“It was almost midnight, but I drove her up to a lookout spot that had a very special meaning to us. When we arrived, I asked her to get out of the car and dance with me under the stars, with the headlights on us,” Josh reflected. “I played our song, Lightning by Mortimer, a song that carries a lot of history for us. I had actually sung that song to her back when we were still in high school, during those nights when we would sneak away just to stay on the phone with each other. As we danced together under the stars, I pulled away, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry me.”
Lauren and Josh’s dream wedding unfolded on May 30, 2026 at Laughing Waters Villa in St Ann. The celebration brought an island chic theme to life, styled by Awesome Party Rentals Ja. Lauren looked every bit the radiant bride in an ivory mermaid gown from Petals and Promises. With her father Leon Golding by her side, she walked up the aisle to The Blessing by Kari Jobe Carnes before exchanging vows with Josh in a ceremony guided by wedding officiants by Gordon Russell and Ansord Hewitt.
Following the ceremony, the celebration flowed seamlessly into the reception, where guests were treated to an island-inspired spread prepared by Bluez Fusion Cuisine Catering. Surround by loved ones, toasts were raised to honour the newly-weds and the journey ahead. The 140-guest gathering felt far more like a family reunion than a traditional reception for Lauren and Josh, creating a meaningful space for them to catch up with loved ones after years apart.
The couple then shared the tradition of cutting their wedding cake, prepared by Sweet Marie’s Desserts, before opening the dance floor to, naturally, Lightning by Mortimer — a fitting choice that brought their love story full circle.
Lauren and Josh later retreated to Princess Senses The Mangroves Hotel in Negril for their honeymoon.
