LONGi ships 29.93 GW of solar modules in H1 2026, expands energy storage offering in Egypt

Chinese solar technology company LONGi recorded solar module shipments of 29.93 GW during the first half of 2026, placing it among the global market leaders by shipment volume.

The company has also introduced its LONGi ONE energy storage systems to the Egyptian market as it expands its portfolio beyond solar modules to include integrated generation, storage and energy management solutions.

Fares Anas, North Africa Sales Director at LONGi, said the new systems combine solar power generation, battery storage and digital energy management. They are targeted at industrial and commercial users, large-scale projects and microgrids.

According to Anas, the systems have an efficiency rate of up to 93.5%, with capacities ranging from 104 kW to 6.25 MW, allowing them to be deployed across a range of energy applications.

The launch event in Cairo was attended by representatives of more than 13 Egyptian companies and organisations, including Orascom and Hassan Allam, as well as renewable energy developers, EPC companies, investors and government representatives.

LONGi also signed memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with Egyptian companies Restech and Egypta as part of its efforts to expand partnerships in the local market.

Egypt has become an increasingly important market for renewable energy companies as the government moves to increase the contribution of renewable sources to 42% of the country’s electricity mix by 2030.

The expansion of renewable generation is also expected to increase demand for battery storage and technologies that can support grid flexibility.

Anas said the solar sector is increasingly shifting towards integrated energy systems that combine power generation with storage and digital management, rather than focusing solely on adding new generation capacity.

LONGi’s solar modules reach efficiencies of up to 24.8%, according to the company. Anas added that products supplied to markets in the region are designed to operate under challenging conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, dust and corrosion.

The company was also awarded the PV Module Technology Leader Award by Solarabic and Terrapinn, the organiser of Solar & Storage Egypt 2026.

LONGi plans to expand its presence in Egypt through additional partnerships as investment in solar power and energy storage continues to grow.
