Libya records lowest digital service costs in North Africa

Libya has ranked first among North African countries for having the lowest cost of digital services relative to average income, according to a report issued by Tunisia’s National Telecommunications Authority based on data from the International Telecommunication Union.

The report showed that the cost of a basket of digital services in Libya represents about 0.76% of gross national income per capita — the lowest rate in the region. This places Libya ahead of Tunisia (1.53%), Algeria (1.62%), Egypt (1.92%), and Morocco (2.15%), while Mauritania ranked last at 3.67%.

The comparison was based on a standard basket of telecommunications services, including 140 minutes of voice calls, 20 SMS messages, and 5GB of internet data per month, used to measure the affordability of digital services relative to individual income in each country.
