Libya’s Rashed Sweissi and Abdelmohimen Al-Zantouti have reached the semi-finals of the men’s doubles pétanque competition at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy.
The Libyan pair secured their place in the last four after victories over Slovenia and Algeria in closely contested matches. They maintained their composure and consistency under coach Saad Ayad to seal both wins.
Their semi-final appearance marks a significant achievement for Libya at the Games, with the pair becoming the first Libyan competitors in Taranto 2026 to reach the last four. The semi-final is scheduled for Monday morning, with Sweissi and Al-Zantouti aiming to reach the final and challenge for a medal.
