Libya condemns terrorist attack on Niger Airport

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity has condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Diori Hamani International Airport in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry described the attack as a criminal act aimed at undermining the security and stability of Niger and threatening the safety of its citizens and vital infrastructure.

The ministry expressed Libya’s full solidarity with the government and people of Niger in confronting such criminal acts, reaffirming its categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism, extremism, and violence, regardless of their motives or justifications.

It also stressed the need to intensify regional and international efforts to combat this phenomenon, which poses a threat to security and stability across the Sahel region and the African continent as a whole.

The ministry renewed its support for the efforts of the Nigerien authorities to strengthen security and protect state institutions, emphasizing the importance of enhancing regional cooperation and coordination to address cross-border security challenges.
