The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 12th Conference of Ministers of the African Organization for the Development and Promotion of Handicrafts hosted in Mali’s capital, Bamako, from July 2 to 4, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Mali.

Libya participated in the 12th Ministerial Conference of the Organization, represented by Minister Nasreddine Al-Fazzani, alongside the organization’s Secretary-General, Fidèle Ilboudo, as well as ministers and representatives from member states.
The conference concluded with the adoption and signing of the organization’s revised founding documents, most notably the amended Statute and revised Rules of Procedure, following their approval during the 11th Ministerial Conference held in Brazzaville, in coordination with member states’ focal points.
Prior to the ministerial conference, an experts’ meeting was held on July 1 and 2, 2026, to review technical and legal proposals aimed at improving the organization’s regulatory framework before submitting them to the ministers for adoption.
The Organization works to promote the handicrafts and traditional crafts sector across its member states by supporting national policies, strengthening artisans’ capacities, encouraging innovation, preserving traditional craftsmanship, and fostering regional cooperation to advance sustainable economic development, create employment opportunities, and reinforce Africa’s cultural identity.
