Liberia’s $336.8m Drug Seizure, 3 Senior Police, Security Officers Nabbed

The Liberian Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gregory Coleman, has confirmed the seizure of two consignments of cocaine at a press conference held yesterday, July 30, 2026, at the Ministry of Information in Monrovia.

He revealed that three senior security personnel have been apprehended and forwarded to court for prosecution over their alleged involvement in cocaine trafficking syndicates.

The senior officers include the Chief of Highway Patrol, the Chief of Financial Crimes, and the Deputy Commander of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) at the Roberts International Airport (RIA).

Coleman also disclosed that several high-profile arrests have been made, describing the operation as a well-coordinated international drug trafficking network.

The two cocaine seizures were carried out by the Joint National Task Force. One seizure, made in June 2026 at the Roberts International Airport, is valued at $19.2 million, while the other, valued at $317.6 million, was made in Duazon, a suburb along the international airport highway.

According to the IGP, the preliminary investigation indicates a highly sophisticated operation involving a transnational criminal network with multiple actors.
