Liberia regains ATU voting rights after securing debt waiver

Liberia has obtained USD 361,151 debt waiver from the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) after a negotiation by Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) chairman Clarence K Massaquoi at the ATU Conference of Plenipotentiaries in Abuja, the LTA said. This clears debts dating back to 1982 and restores the nation’s full voting rights. Liberia immediately put its vote to use by ratifying the ATU constitution, passing a motion to reform the union’s election rules, and voting to adopt the 2026 Abuja Declara
