King Charles Steps In to Save Prince Harry’s Invictus Games Following Uganda’s Abrupt Exit

Uganda restored plans to join the 2027 Invictus Games after a palace-linked conversation, a development with regional significance for a new participant. In statements referencing the Invictus Games, Uganda People’s Defence Forces spokesperson Chris Magezi said a phone call occurred between Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Sir Clive Alderton, principal private secretary to King Charles. Magezi said King Charles had no issue with Uganda’s participation and encouraged preparations, a move seen as rare support for Prince Harry’s signature event. The shift follows Kainerugaba’s September 8 announcement withdrawing without His Majesty’s approval. He later criticized “Harry-Meghan” efforts, amid a palace letter noting the Sussexes act in a private capacity.
