JP Batteries has advanced its West African expansion with a three-day business engagement in Togo, followed by meetings in Cameroon, as the company intensifies efforts to build a stronger distribution network across the region.
The Togo leg of the tour began on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, after the team travelled from Ghana. The visit focused on direct market engagement with distributors, dealers and prospective partners, product introduction and gathering feedback from operators on the ground.
According to the company, the response was encouraging. Engagements involved Togolese, Lebanese, Indian and Nigerian business operators active in the Togolese market. Some dealers received supplies of JP Batteries and immediately displayed the products in their shops, allowing customers to view them and make enquiries.
Feedback during the three days centred on durability, reliability, power performance and suitability for African weather and road conditions.
JP Batteries is manufactured by PINACO, the Vietnamese Dry Cell and Storage Battery Joint Stock Company, an established manufacturer with decades of experience producing batteries for local and international markets.
Chief Dr Chris Brown Umeh, Chairman of JP Chris Motors and Batteries Nigeria Limited and sole distributor of JP Batteries in West Africa, expressed satisfaction with the level of interest and feedback received.
He said the expansion was not merely about placing products on shelves, but about building lasting relationships with credible distributors and dealers who understand their local markets and can take the brand closer to consumers.
Among those engaged in Togo were dealers and business operators including Sir Nickson, Sir Wahib, Sir Edu Japan, Sir Eric Batteries and Sir Reginus. Sir Tobike’s dealers in Togo have begun supplying JP Batteries and indicated interest in deepening the business relationship. Some prospective partners also expressed interest in sole distributorship arrangements as the brand expands.
Nigerian media expert Njoku Macdonald Obinna, who coordinated media coverage of the tour, described JP Batteries as a product that can give dealers confidence when recommending batteries to motorists. He noted that durability and reliability are critical because customers ultimately judge dealers by the performance of the products they sell. He urged the company to maintain product quality while strengthening its distribution network and customer support in Togo.
Sir Wahib, after examining the products, said motorists need batteries they can depend on, especially in environments where vehicles face long journeys, heavy daily use and demanding weather conditions. He recommended the product to dealers and motorists and encouraged the company to continue expanding its network of trusted suppliers.
From Togo, the team proceeded to Cameroon, arriving on Friday, August 14, 2026, for further engagements with dealers and automobile industry stakeholders. Discussions focused on product performance, market opportunities, distribution and the potential for stronger business relationships within the Cameroonian market.
Two major dealers engaged in Cameroon were Pastor Mike Okeke, Chairman/CEO of Bethel Auto, Douala, and Chief Nwafor Chi-Oliver, Chairman/CEO of NOC Automobiles. Their meetings added further depth to the Cameroon leg of the tour.
The Cameroon visit marked the final stop of the first batch of the West Africa Business Tour. The team returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, bringing the first phase to a close.
The tour produced new contacts, suppliers, prospective distributors and growing market interest across the countries visited. According to the company, the engagements demonstrated that demand exists for batteries that can prove quality, durability, reliability and value under African operating conditions.
With the first batch concluded, JP Batteries is preparing for a second phase of the West Africa Business Tour that will take the brand into additional countries in the region. The company said it would continue to prioritise relationships with credible dealers, distributors and strategic partners as it works to strengthen its presence across West Africa and the wider African market.
