JM 2026 – Judo: Two silver medals for Morocco

Morocco’s medal haul in judo grew by two silver medals on Friday at the Mediterranean Games, held in the Italian city of Taranto.

Soumiya Iraoui won silver in the under-52 kg category after reaching the final, where she was defeated by Cyprus’s Sofia Asvesta.

The second silver medal went to Hassan Doukkali in the under-73 kg category, following his loss in the final to Algeria’s Messaoud Redouane Driss.

Earlier in the day, Moroccan judo claimed a gold medal thanks to Ahmed Alaoui Cherifi in the under-60 kg category.

The Moroccan judoka beat Spain’s Luis Barroso Lopez in the final by ippon.
