Happy two-month anniversary to the completion of the Iran-deal-that-wasn’t.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” President Donald Trump proclaimed on June 14. “Congratulations to all!”
“I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” he added. “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

At the start of the conflict in late February, Trump said the Iran “excursion” would last four to five weeks, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth lashed out at reporters for questioning the war.

On Thursday, Hegseth told reporters the U.S. could maintain a blockade of Iran’s ports “indefinitely.”
