Iraqi PM reviews National Investment Commission’s plans

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi paid a visit to the National Investment Commission (NIC) on Thursday to examine investment plans, project execution processes across the country, and strategies to boost growth in line with the government’s agenda.

Al-Zaidi emphasized the NIC’s critical role as a strong supporter of the country’s economic goals, stating that the government is actively developing long-term relationships with foreign companies, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The prime minister ordered a special emphasis on the strategic project of the Development Road, notably through the expedited construction of connected industrial cities to create an integrated economic environment.

The NIC was directed to make a significant contribution to the government’s flagship housing plan, which intends to deliver one million residential plots to home-deprived individuals.

Al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq welcomes investment opportunities and aims to establish long-term partnerships with investors. He added that Iraq has significant opportunities that need to be turned into tangible projects that benefit the economy and society.

The prime minister indicated that it is important to develop the agricultural sector by transforming deserts into arable lands to boost agricultural and livestock production and create jobs.

NIC officials confirmed that investment initiatives are moving forward in accordance with the government’s strategy and that the commission is making efforts to turn investment possibilities into real development projects.
