Iraqi Hizbullah Brigades MP Meets w/ China’s Amb to Iraq

On August 6, 2026, Iraqi MP Sa’ud Al-Sa’idi, the Deputy Chairman of the Huquq Movement, the political party of the U.S.-designated, Iran-backed Iraqi militia Hizbullah Brigades, hosted China’s Ambassador to Iraq at the movement’s offices in Baghdad.

Al-Sa’idi’s page on Facebook[1] featured a summary of his meeting that day with Xiang Bo, the 22nd Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Iraq. According to the post, both parties addressed several shared issues, foremost among them the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, at both political and parliamentary levels, and the coordination of efforts “to serve the interests of both nations amidst the U.S.-Zionist aggression against the peoples of our region,” per the post.

In addition, discussions focused particularly on the Belt and Road Initiative, leveraging China’s governance experience in combating corruption and poverty, the Digital Silk Road initiative, and alternative financial and banking systems.

“We emphasized our commitment to constructive engagement based on mutual respect and the protection of Iraqi sovereignty,” wrote Al-Sa’idi.

Ambassador Xiang expressed that his country is ready to expand the horizons of cooperation and develop relations across “various fields” in a manner that benefits the people of Iraq and China.
