Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Parallel market exchange rates for the U.S. dollar against the Iraqi Dinar ticked upward across major domestic trading centers on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, reaching 154,750 IQD per $100 across Baghdad, Erbil, and Basra.

The parallel market rate reflects an expanding spread above the Central Bank of Iraq’s (CBI) official fixed exchange rate of 131,000 IQD per $100 (1,310 IQD per $1 USD).

The parallel selling rate held uniform at 154,750 IQD across the three major trading hubs, signaling sustained liquidity demand for physical greenbacks in merchant transactions and non-formal trade channels.

While official commercial trade and documented wire transfers continue to clear through the Central Bank’s electronic portal at the pegged 1,310/1,320 rate, local cash exchange windows across Baghdad, Erbil, and Basra maintain an approximate 18% market premium over the official baseline.
