Iran: Yemen issues cannot be resolved through continued blockade, military alliance-building

Pars Today- Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stressed the need to respect Yemen’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and to end the illegal and inhumane blockade of the country.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, a statement by Iran’s Foreign Ministry said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates its principled and consistent position on the need to respect Yemen’s independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to end the illegal and inhumane blockade of the country. There is no doubt that security and stability in West Asia and the Red Sea region cannot be achieved without respecting the legitimate rights and dignity of the people of Yemen.

“The statement stressed that what is currently happening in Yemen cannot be separated from developments over the past decade and more. The great and noble people of Yemen, as heirs to a rich and illustrious civilization and history, who have always played a decisive and proud role in the history of the region and the world, have the right to live with dignity, free from pressure, intimidation and an unjust blockade, and to have their national sovereignty and territorial integrity fully respected.

The statement added: ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran, while stressing the need to pay attention to the interests of the Muslim Ummah—particularly at a time when West Asia is facing the unprecedented aggression, oppression and expansionism of the Zionist regime with the complicity of the United States—reminds all sides that Yemen-related issues cannot be resolved through the continuation of the blockade and military alliance-building.’

The statement concluded: ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the need for the immediate resumption of dialogue based on the agreed roadmap and the implementation of its provisions, and is ready to make any good offices efforts in this regard.’
