Ipswich Town Sign Exequiel Palacios in Major Premier League Statement
Ipswich Town have made the sort of signing that cuts through the noise. Exequiel Palacios, World Cup winner with Argentina, has joined from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year deal, becoming the first player with that status to sign for the Suffolk club.

He is 27, seasoned, and arrives with a serious medal haul. Ipswich are new to the Premier League again, but this is not the move of a club happy to make up the numbers. Gary O’Neil Targets Premier League Stability
O’Neil has been clear about the profile required. “He is a player who has had real success at the top level of the game, winning the biggest prize of all in the World Cup, as well as major trophies at club level. “That experience will be vital for us as we continue to work to improve the squad this summer.”
That is the point here. Ipswich need players who understand pressure, tempo and expectation. Palacios has lived all three. He made 186 appearances for Leverkusen, scored 15 goals, and was part of the side that won the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and German Super Cup.

Ipswich Transfer Ambition Keeps Growing
Palacios came through at River Plate, debuted in 2015, and won the Copa Libertadores in 2018 along with two Copa Argentina titles before moving to Germany in 2020. He did not go to Leverkusen as a headline act, but he leaves as a proven, reliable midfielder with top-level pedigree.
Ipswich have already started well, beating Sunderland 2-1 at Portman Road and moving into the third round of the Carabao Cup. They are also working on a loan move for Tammy Abraham from Aston Villa. Survival remains the first job, but the recruitment says something more. Ipswich are trying to stay up properly, with players who have already been where it matters most.
