Interior Minister meets Turkish Intelligence Chief to boost security cooperation

Government of National Unity Interior Minister Emad Trabelsi met Turkish National Intelligence Organization’s Chief Ibrahim Kalin during his official visit to Ankara to discuss several security and intelligence issues of mutual interest between Libya and Turkey.

The Interior Ministry said the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries’ security and intelligence agencies to address shared security challenges and support efforts aimed at promoting security and stability.

The two sides also discussed mechanisms to expand cooperation in the security and intelligence sectors, enhance the exchange of expertise, and improve coordination between relevant institutions in line with the common interests of Libya and Turkey within the framework of bilateral relations.

The ministry said the meeting forms part of Trabelsi’s official visit to Turkey, which includes a series of meetings with Turkish officials to discuss security cooperation and develop joint working mechanisms.

On Tuesday, Trabelsi arrived in Ankara for an official visit, beginning with a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during which they discussed several issues of mutual interest.

He later met his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, in an expanded meeting that focused on strengthening security cooperation between the two countries, as well as facilitating procedures for Libyan citizens in Turkey, particularly regarding visas and residency permits.
