Pyramids Maintain Perfect Start in Egypt

Egyptian powerhouses Pyramids FC maintained their flawless start to the Egyptian Premier League campaign, battling to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Al Masry on Monday. The New Cairo-based outfit set the tone early and found the decisive breakthrough just 11 minutes into the contest.

Defender Ahmed Samy rose highest in the box to meet a pinpoint corner from Mohamed El-Shibi, powering a bullet header past the keeper to put the visitors in front.

The side showed their defensive steel after the interval, soaking up pressure to preserve their narrow lead and lock down a third consecutive clean sheet.

Mokwena’s charges have plundered six goals while yet to concede a single strike at the back.

Rulani Mokwena Praises His Squad

Speaking after the game, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach said his side deserved full credit for overcoming a historically tough opponent.

“I don’t know when Pyramids last beat Al Masry, but I am proud of the players and the big stars in the team,” he said, per Asharq Sports.

He also praised his defenders Ahmed Samy and Mahmoud Marei, calling them the best defensive duo in the Egyptian Premier League and questioning how the pair do not feature for the national team.

Mokwena’s Bold Claim on Mohanad Lasheen

The South African tactician then shifted his focus to Man of the Match Mohanad Lasheen, declaring that the midfielder possesses the quality to compete at the very highest level.

“Lasheen is a great player, he could play for Real Madrid, perhaps if he were younger now.”
