Haiti – FLASH : NATCOM launches a 5G pilot phase in Haiti
On Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Karibe Hotel, the mobile phone company National Telecom (NATCOM), as part of its 15th anniversary celebrations in Haiti, launched the pilot phase of 5G technology in the country.
Under the theme “Leading for Better” the ceremony brought together several members of the government, representatives from the public and private sectors, international partners, and executives from the Vietnamese Viettel Group and NATCOM, in which they hold a 60% stake.
In his address, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé emphasized NATCOM’s strategic contribution to the modernization of digital infrastructure, the development of telecommunications, and financial inclusion, while highlighting the importance of cooperation between Haiti and Vietnam. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting innovation, digital inclusion, and investment in the country’s technological infrastructure.
Natcom has not published an official list of neighborhoods connected to 5G in this pilot phase. However, deployment and network coverage data show that the signal is initially concentrated in key strategic and commercial areas of the metropolitan region: Pétion-ville, particularly around major hotels and business districts; Port-au-Prince Centre, the administrative areas and central thoroughfares of the capital; and Delmas, the high-density economic and residential sectors (such as Delmas 73). As this launch is in the pilot phase, Natcom’s objective is precisely to evaluate technical stability, signal penetration, and accessibility before expanding coverage to other provincial cities.
