GTI commends NPFL board over historic $7.5m EuroMatch title sponsorship

GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited, the strategic partner to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has commended the league’s board for securing a landmark $7.5 million (approx. ₦10.5 billion) title sponsorship deal with EuroMatch ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Speaking shortly after the official unveiling ceremony in Abuja, GTI’s Head of Media and Publicity, Andrew Ekejiuba, described the three-year deal as a bold and transformative step that reflects the growing brand value and commercial attractiveness of the domestic top flight.

“GTI Group believes that the entry of EuroMatch into the Nigerian football ecosystem is a strong vote of confidence in the renewed vision, structure, and commercial appeal of the NPFL,” Ekejiuba said. “The unveiling of EuroMatch signals the dawn of a new era. It reinforces our conviction that sound corporate governance, transparency, and strategic partnerships can position the NPFL among the most competitive and commercially viable leagues in Africa.”

Under the agreement, EuroMatch acquires the primary naming rights to the league. NPFL Chairman Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye noted that beyond the immediate financial boost, the partnership will expand the league’s global visibility and drive long-term structural development.

EuroMatch Group Chairman Sacli Semih expressed confidence in the investment, citing Nigeria’s rich talent pool and projecting a full return on investment by the second year of the deal.

Reaffirming GTI’s commitment to the sustainable growth of Nigerian sports, Ekejiuba urged more private sector entities, telecommunications providers, and financial institutions to invest in the domestic league value chain.

The unveiling was attended by key dignitaries, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, Presidential Special Adviser Sunday Dare, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, GTI Executive Director Nelson Ine, and former international stars Daniel Amokachi, Austin Eguavoen, Samson Siasia, and Brown Ideye.
