GREEN FUND: Uganda’s youth demand more support

Youth climate activists are turning up the heat, urging the government to establish a Green Fund to support their fight against the climate crisis.

They warn that systemic financial barriers are holding back youth-led solutions, even as young people make up the majority of those driving climate action. From regenerative agriculture to carbon markets, their initiatives are stalling without targeted financial support.

At a National Training of Trainers convention in Kampala, youth leaders called for greater access to skills in climate finance, green jobs, and advocacy to unlock opportunities in Uganda’s emerging green economy.

According to the activists, climate change is no longer just a theory—erratic rains, floods, and droughts are already threatening livelihoods.
