Government launches new solar projects to strengthen Libya’s power grid

The Government of National Unity has announced a new package of solar energy projects aimed at supporting Libya’s electricity network and accelerating the country’s transition to renewable energy.

The initiative follows a meeting between Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Bin Ghalboun and the Renewable Energy Authority, where they reviewed progress on the National Renewable Energy Strategy and stressed the need to fast-track priority projects.

The planned projects will provide hybrid solar power systems for mosques, government buildings, and public schools, helping reduce demand on the national grid.

The meeting also confirmed the completion of executive procedures for the 500-megawatt Al-Saddadah Solar Power Plant, a strategic project expected to expand electricity generation capacity and diversify Libya’s energy sources.
