Officials from Liberia’s government and 27 American agribusiness executives have visited a revived Dawhenya greenhouse this year, positioning one Ghanaian farm as a reference point for African food production. Maphlix Trust Ghana Limited, a Tadzevu-based agribusiness company in the Volta Region, operates the facility. The firm, which works across farming, aggregation, processing and exports, took over the previously idle greenhouse and irrigation project from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in 2025. Since then the site has become a production centre, a training ground for young farmers and a destination for international delegations.
The most recent visit brought officials from Liberia’s Ministry of Agriculture and selected micro, small and medium enterprises operating under a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) programme. The Liberian team studied production systems, value addition strategies and export market integration at the Dawhenya site. Liberia imports significant quantities of vegetables, and the discussions covered technical cooperation and potential regional trade ties.
Earlier this year, 27 agribusiness executives from the state of Indiana toured the facility to explore collaboration opportunities between Ghanaian and American agricultural enterprises.
“We want Africa to know that we can do it,” said Dr Felix Mawuli Kamassah, chief executive of Maphlix, framing the visits as evidence that African agricultural expertise is ready for export.
