WANA (Jun 17) – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and Iran’s Special Envoy on China Affairs, emphasized the need to build economic welfare for the Iranian people and solidify ties with China during a consultative meeting with the Iran Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Following the meeting, Ghalibaf stated in a social media post on X (as shown in image_45bad9.jpg): “Iran’s commitment to win-win cooperation underpinned by comprehensive strategic partnership with China is resolute. In my meeting with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, I emphasized: We are determined to translate our strategic consensus under the GDI into pragmatic outcomes.”
Addressing the chamber, the Parliament Speaker underlined the transition to economic reconstruction. “Today, we must take over the trench from the guys at the missile launchers, stand firm, and relieve the public from economic pressure. We must stand to build the lives of the people,” Ghalibaf said.
He noted that this does not imply engaging in wasteful spending, but rather providing a comfortable and prosperous life for citizens while vigorously building the nation across all sectors.
Turning to bilateral relations, Ghalibaf characterized China as uniquely important to Iran’s economic future. “China is absolutely unique to us,” he stressed, adding that Iran must demonstrate its commitment clearly.
“We are the ones who must make China believe—and they will believe—that we are not merely a customer or a trading counterpart, but that we are truly a partner to China in every sense of the word.”
