Four drownings on eastern region beaches; warnings issued to families and beachgoers

The Maritime Rescue Unit in Tolmeita has announced the drowning death of 20-year-old Muhand Al-Abbar off the coast of Daryanah, east of Benghazi.

This is the latest in a series of drowning incidents on the eastern coast.

This incident occurred less than 24 hours after the drowning deaths of a man and his 16-year-old son off the coast of Tokra. The father drowned while attempting to rescue his son, according to the Maritime Rescue Unit in the eastern region.

The Al-Hamama-Al-Haniya Maritime Rescue Unit recorded the drowning of a 20-year-old Egyptian man named Ahmed Khaled at Best Beach, while rescue teams managed to save another young man at Talmitha Beach.

The maritime rescue units urged families and vacationers to monitor sea conditions and adhere to safety guidelines before swimming to prevent further drowning incidents.

According to statistics from the Eastern Region Maritime Rescue Unit, 64 drowning deaths were recorded on the eastern beaches last summer, while the number of deaths since the beginning of the current season has reached 12.
