FG condemns fresh Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

The federal government has condemned the fresh attacks launched by the Houthi militia in Yemen against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which injured scores of civilians and damaged civil infrastructure.

In a statement on Tuesday, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the attack occurred on Monday.

“Nigeria regards the fresh hostilities as a serious threat not only to the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia but also to regional stability in the Middle East,” he said.

The ministry called on all parties to uphold international law, exercise maximum restraint, and refrain from further actions that could escalate the situation.

It said the attacks endangered civilian lives, undermined regional security, and further disrupted the flow of much-needed global energy supplies.

“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia at this difficult time, and prays for speedy recovery for those injured in the attacks,” Mr Adeniyi said.

The ministry reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting peace processes and conciliatory frameworks that promote regional peace, international security and stability, and advance shared prosperity and development for all.
